Rotherham United Manager Neil Redfearn said that the performance in the three-nil away loss at Derby County was not acceptable.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield the Millers Boss, who is still waiting for his first win, said, ‘If I`m honest I thought Derby were miles in front of us.

‘But the thing that disappointed me most was that we had a little spell after half-time where we showed a little bit of fight and a little bit of passion but no where near enough to what this football club expects.

‘I`ve inherited these players and we`ve got to work with them but we`ve got to get some bodies in and show that we`ve got an upward trend.

‘We started quite bright but once we let them settle into their stride we never laid a glove on them. We talked about how they would split up at the back and how Thorne would drop in and pick the ball up in midfield and we`ve worked on that all way through the week. We talked about putting them under pressure and making it difficult for them and we didn`t do that nowhere near enough.

‘We`ve had a good turn out today and good numbers have come to watch us and it`s not acceptable. I`ll accept the odd mistakes but not the lack of effort, work-rate or wanting to win.

‘But the players have got to take responsibility because when you go out there it`s up to players to take the bull by the horns.

‘But, if I`m being honest they were worthy three-nil winners and we`ve got a lot of work to do but I`m expecting a much improved performance against Middlesbrough on Tuesday.`
