Rotherham United`s Assistant Manager Paul Raynor was asked by Radio Sheffield about the Johnny Mullins loan to Oxford which happened yesterday.

‘He wasn’t getting games and was getting frustrated,` Raynor said.

‘You get some players who will sit there and keep picking their money up but Johnny isn’t like that. He`s a good lad and is itching to play football. He trains very hard and is a good player and that won`t change. He was getting frustrated with his lack of game time.

‘There is a slight issue with his travelling and his arrangements of where he`s living at the moment which is something we need to address when he comes back. Obviously, Oxford United is a little bit closer to home for him and the games will help him.

‘People will ask the question ‘why are you letting Johnny out` and the honest assessment is that he hasn’t been playing recently and we`ve a number of players in his position. We just thought it was best suited for Johnny to go and get some games at the moment and we can recall him after twenty-eight days if we need to and twenty-eight days isn’t a long time in football.`

Johnny played the full ninety minutes for Oxford today where they were held to a goalless draw at home by Gillingham

Now I like Craig Morgan but I do wonder why WE got him in on loan when we’ve got Mullins sat twiddling his thumbs on the sidelines and now we’ve sent him to Oxford on loan. I never know, with loans, who`s paying who`s wages but I`m sure if we`d used Mulls instead of getting a loan player in then it would have saved some money somewhere?
