Rotherham United`s Assistant Manager Paul Raynor said their was no positives after watching his side lose to Southend at home this afternoon and went on to admit to being ‘gobsmacked` at the Millers performance.

Speaking after the three-nil drubbing, Raynes told Radio Sheffield, ‘To say I am disappointed is an understatement.

‘Sometimes when you get beaten you can take positives out of it but there are no positives this afternoon. It was lackluster, people hiding, people not working hard enough, people not sticking to the game plan and the Gaffer (Steve Evans) was damning in his assessment too and quite rightly so.

‘I can`t sit here hand on heart and say that the fourteen players who put on a Rotherham shirt today worked hard and to their maximum because it didn’t happen. I`ll stand in front of any player that works hard but there aren’t too many of our players can say that today. And they’ve been told in no uncertain terms that it`s unacceptable and that when you pull that shirt on you’ve got to wear it with pride and give everything.

‘Southend beat us at our own game today and we got punished which is difficult to take on the chin. I`m the most positive and pessimistic person there is but it`s very difficult to take that one today. Let`s not kid ourselves. We weren’t unlucky today. We didn’t defend properly, our passing was woeful, we didn’t play with any purpose and people with red shirts didn’t want the ball today.

‘My head is in my hands tonight and I`m on the floor and I hope they (the players) are on the floor too because there are a lot of Rotherham fans who will be on the floor tonight and they deserve so much better than that.`
