Rotherham United’s Assistant Manager Paul Raynor wasn’t happy after tonight`s game was called-off at the last moment.

With a fair number of Millers fans already in the ground the announcement that the game was off finally arrived at 7.40pm, five minutes before the game was due to commence.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield, Raynor said, ‘You could tell there was going to be problems when we were doing our warm up with the amount of puddles on the pitch and the ball wouldn’t roll.

‘It’s a shame because everyone says this is the best the Accrington pitch has looked in years but, because it’s so firm, the water is sitting on top of it whereas before it might have been a little bit muddier but the game could probably have gone ahead.

‘We were desperate to play. We were high on confidence and wanted the game on and we are very disappointed.

‘I’m stood here now looking at our supporters who I’m sure are absolutely devastated and it’s disappointing for them.

‘The manager is also frustrated and disappointed. The referee has made his decision and we have to go along with that but it isn’t conducive to a league football match because there are puddles in places. But it’s his call, we wanted to play and Accrington wanted to play but the referee made his decision and we have to respect that.’
