Rotherham United’s second new signing of the summer Darren Potter told iFollow that he was delighted to have signed for the Millers.

‘It’s been a bit of a strange summer for me,’ the thirty-two year old midfielder said. ‘I was without a contract and not really knowing what I was doing next so have finally have something in place was great.

‘Richie (Barker) was a big influence me coming here. He told me about the philosophy they are hoping to implement here and I think it will be an exciting challenge.

‘And it’s a fantastic stadium here. I’ve been here a couple of times already and played in front of the crowd here so will be delighted to play in front of the home crowd now.

‘Everyone is looking for young, hungry players but I think you always need that bit of experience in any team and hopefully I’ll bring what I know of the league into this team.

‘It would be nice to bounce back straight away and, after speaking to Richie, I’m sure that’s the objective.’

Asked what he could bring to the Millers, Darren said, ‘I’m not somebody who likes to speak about myself so I’ll leave that to other people. But I hope people will enjoy the style of football I like to play which is to get the ball down on the park and pass it around.’
