Rotherham United will know what to expect from striker, Tom Pope at Vale Park next Saturday after letting the twenty-six year old go to Port Vale in August.

Pope, who joined the Millers from Crewe in 2009, never really got into goal scoring mode and only managed to find the net nine times in seventy two appearances but has already scored three goals for his boyhood team, Vale, this season, the last one being against an ex-club, Crewe on Saturday.

Speaking to Radio Stoke after that game, Tom said, ‘It was nice to get on the score sheet but I didn’t want to rub it in too much because I’ve got a lot of respect for Dario Gradi and Crewe, who brought me from non-league and helped me in my career. If it had been against Rotherham next week I might have gone a bit more wild.’

Saying that he had something to prove next week, Pope said, ‘When I left here (Crewe) I only fell out with the ex-manager and not the other players or the fans who have always been great. It’s a different story at Rotherham so it would be nice if I could get the winner and get the three points against them to rub it in a few of their faces.’

Now that, young man, from where I come from, is feightin’ talk!
