Rotherham United are to get things moving with the pitch at the New York Stadium next week.
Speaking to MillersPlayer, GMI Construction`s Andy Stokes, said, ‘We will start next week with the ground irrigation, which is the underground pipe work. When you go to football games you see the pop-up water at half-time or before the game which is what that is.
‘It is the same pitch contractor who laid the pitch at the Chesterfield Football Ground and, I understand, they won the Groundsman of the Year. Once the pitch starts the pitch people will want about nine weeks.
‘It`s a natural pitch. It`s not turf and if we get the weather it should be sprouting by the end of May or earlier June.`
He also said that the seating would commence in about three weeks time.
