Rotherham United have told David Beddows of the Rotherham Advertiser that only big money would see striker Danny Ward leave the club.

Much ‘gossip’ among supporters and on social media has been saying that they expect the Millers top goalscorer so far this season to leave in the January window but Manager Paul Warne says that they haven’t been asked about him yet.

‘There’s not even been a tentative approach,’ Warney said, ‘although I am aware that other clubs would like him because he’s a good striker.

‘When people come and watch players I’m not surprised they leave and want Wardy on their team sheet because, in most games, he’s been a handful. His work ethic is amazing and he’s a really good pro.

‘He’s got goals in him and strikers who can score are hard to come by. Strikers who can score in a struggling team are even better really.

‘But I’m also aware how much strikers cost so if someone comes in then it will have to be proper money.’
