The Millers had things going on in the past on this day –

2nd April 2013
On this day last year the Millers were getting over an Easter Monday loss at Priestfield when Gillingham won one-nil when former Rotherham player Deon Burton scored. Millers Boss Steve Evans was saying that he thought a draw would have been a fair result.

2nd April 2012
Two years ago England Referee Howard Webb was showing his support for his local side by buying season tickets for the New York Stadium.

2nd April 2011
On this day in 2011 the Millers slipped to tenth place after a James Spencer goal eight minutes from time gave Morecambe all three points at Don Valley.

Caretaker Manager Andy Liddell said he was ‘at a loss’ to explain the lack of confidence in the team saying he was ‘lost for words’.

2nd April 2010
Millers Manager Ronnie Moore told us that he still hadn’t given up on signing midfielder Arnaud Mendy from Derby County saying that they had tried to get him but the paper work hadn’t gone through in time.

We found out on this day that midfielder Dale Tonge was out for the rest of the season with a foot injury.

With Easter coming up Ronnie Moore said that he would be happy with four points from the fixtures which were Port Vale (Don Valley) and Aldershot (Away). (He actually had to settle for three points with Vale winning 2-1 and the Millers beating the Shots 3-0)

2nd April 2009
Five years ago Millers Chairman Tony Stewart was asking how Southampton had managed to find a loophole regarding minus points. The Saints were looking to put their parent company into administration, rather than the club itself, which could see them escape a ten point deduction with Mr Stewart saying, ‘It doesn’t matter whether it’s a holding company or whatever, the issue is if the creditors are not going to be paid. Should Southampton not lose any points then this is a dual standard.’

Today we found out that Millers Manager Mark Robins missed out on the March Manager of the Month award with Chesterfield Manager Lee Richardson being the picked. During March the Millers had taken fifteen points including beating Lee Richardson’s Chesterfield three-nil.

2nd April 2008
On this day in 2008 the club released a press statement saying there were eight parties interested in buying the club although a number of those had already been dismissed for not meeting the criteria set by administrator Jeremy Bleazard.

2nd April 2005
The Millers were in the Championship and travelled to the Britannia Stadium to take on Stoke City. Martin Butler put the Millers in front on the twenty-third minute and they managed to hold on until the eighty-third minute when Gifton Noel-Williams equalised. But Noel-Williams turned from hero to villain in the final minute of the game when he put the ball in his own net to give the Millers the win. Referee Graham Salisbury had a busy afternoon booking ten players which included a second yellow for Michael Duberry in the final minutes of the game.

2nd April 1996
The Millers welcomed Notts County to Millmoor for this Tuesday night fixture and Paul Hurst and Trevor Berry scored the goals to give the Millers all three points.

2nd April 1994
On this day in the past Bradford City were in town. Graeme Tomlinson put the Bantams in front before Andy Williams equalised before half-time. Shaun Goater scored in the second half to give the Millers a two-one win.
