Rotherham United sent out players Tom Cahill and Liam King to Blue Square Premier League team Altrincham on loan at the start of January.

Cahill joined the Millers from non-league Matlock in the summer but soon after joining, he had to have an operation on his knee and since coming back from that has only managed to make one appearance in the league for the first team and that was against Mansfield as a substitute.

In The Advertiser, manager, Mark Robins said, ‘It’s been a bit of a culture shock for Tom this season coming from non-league and then getting injured. At the moment it is difficult to give him an opportunity here so he has gone to Altrincham on a months loan and hopefully it will do him, and Altrincham, some good.’

Liam King has come from the Youth ranks at Millmoor and has gone to Altrincham to ‘further his development.’ He came on as substitute for the Millers in the two-nil defeat at Barnet earlier in the season.

Both played for Altrincham on New Years Day when they were on the winning side and also this weekend at Oxford, when the side, unfortunately lost four-nil.

According to Altrincham’s Official Site, Cahill displayed plenty of commitment and reading through the report it looks like he was involved in the action quite a bit before being subbed in the last ten minutes. King, who was booked in the second half, played for sixty minutes of the game.
