Rotherham United have signed another defender today.

Twenty-seven year old Tom Newey has signed a two-year deal and comes on a free transfer from Bury.

Sheffield born Newey, usually plays at left-back but can also operate at centre-half.

He was a trainee with Leeds United before moving to Leyton Orient, Cambridge, Grimsby Town and Bury, where he played thirty games for them last season.

Speaking to the Official Site, Chief Operating Officer, Paul Douglas, said, ‘Tom is a quality player who Ronnie Moore has admired for some time.

‘We believe he will offer serious opposition to Jamie Green for that left-back spot.’

Vital Rotherham welcome Tom to Rotherham United.
