Rotherham United Manager Neil Redfearn says that he hasn’t thought about going into the loan market yet.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield the Millers new Boss said, ‘The ideal scenario would be to give these boys a chance and see if we can get it up and running straight away.

‘If we can do that then fantastic but if these boys maybe need a little help through the season then we’ll maybe look at that but we’ve got a good balanced squad and they are very capable.

‘When I was at Leeds last year there are some of these players that I would have took there. Danny Ward I rate really highly and I really wanted him at Leeds. And he’s just one example with there being five or six other examples amongst the squad.

‘The message has to be that they have the confidence from the Man at the top that they are capable and then we’ve got to give them their head and let them go and prove it.’

Asked about defender Richard Wood who is currently out on loan at Fleetwood, Neil replied, ‘I’ve spoken to Richard. It’s important that he knows he’s not been forgotten about. He’s a really experienced guy and I want to look at everything that I’ve got available.’

I know that Neil Redfearn is very much into the Youth policy in football so I’m hoping we see some of our younger players coming through – particularly the likes of Jerry Yates who can only benefit from being around the first team.
