Rotherham United defender, Richard Naylor might still be struggling with injury but, according to the Millers caretaker manager, Darren Patterson there is no truth in the rumours that the thirty-five year old is ready to retire.

Naylor joined the Millers in January, signing a contract until the end of the season, after making thirteen appearances for Doncaster Rovers this season. He made his debut against Dagenham and Redbridge at Don Valley but hasn`t played since the end of February.

Speaking to Dom Howson of The Star, Patto admitted that Naylor is still having problems. ‘He tried to step up his rehabilitation last week but it is slow progress unfortunately.

‘But Richard is a fighter so it is not difficult for him at all to comeback from injuries. It is more frustrating for him mentally because he wants to be out there playing. He works his socks off and he is an absolutely outstanding professional.

‘I expect him to comeback from this and continue his career. I have not been told any different.`
