Rotherham United’s new defender, Johnny Mullins missed out on the first pre-season friendly game last night with Leicester City due to a calf injury.

Millers Manager, Ronnie Moore said that Mullins, who signed on a two year deal from Stockport earlier this month, should be back in contention for the game against Sheffield United on Saturday.

Speaking to the Official Site, Moore said, ‘We played Stockport in a behind closed doors game last Friday and Johnny made a tremendous tackle to stop their lad going through but, unfortunately, got a kick in the middle of his calf.

‘He’s had it X-rayed and, thankfully, it’s come back all clear so it’s just a case of working with him this week and hoping that he’ll be fit enough for the game on Saturday.’

Speaking about the other injuries the team have, Moore said, ‘It looks like Dale Tonge won’t be ready until September time and it could be mid-September before he’s in contention for a place in the side.

‘Tom Pope will be three weeks behind Tongey so it looks like it will be October before he’s ready.’
