Rotherham United defender, Johnny Mullins says that there was no hiding from it, last week was a very difficult week after manager, Andy Scott was sacked.

Speaking to Les Payne of The Star the versatile defender said, ‘We all know about the ups and downs of football and when things like that happen you have to pick yourself up. Personally, the gaffer was really good with me after I came back from my knee injury and it was a bitter pill to swallow. While he was here he did a lot for me and as he did for a lot of the players in that dressing room as well and there`s no hiding that last week was a difficult week.`

Speaking about caretaker boss, Darren Patterson the former Stockport County player said, ‘Darren Patterson and the staff have been brilliant with us and they kept our heads up. We got the win over Macclesfield and we were disappointed that we`d nothing to show for our efforts at Crawley where the first half was the best forty-five minutes we`d played.

‘We can all talk about missed opportunities in that first half but we, as defenders, can`t grumble at that because we`ve not kept a clean sheet then they hit us with that sucker punch. We`ve conceded a penalty early in the second half because we initially didn`t deal well enough with a ball that we allowed to go a long way. So, you end up coming off, thinking you`ve played quite well but not got your just rewards.

‘We have to take that first half performance into the game against Hereford next Saturday.`
