Rotherham United Manager, Ronnie Moore has told Leon Wobschall of the Yorkshire Post that, second in command, Jimmy Mullen is not at the club to agree with him – or because of the ‘old pals act’.

Moore and Mullen played together for the Millers in the 1980’s and Moore was ready to bring the former Walsall, Burnley and Blackpool boss in as his number two at Tranmere – though Moore was sacked before that could happen. Mullen is known for always having his say and Moore said of him, ‘He’s not one of those guys who if I say it’s red, it’s red. He’ll come back at you and he isn’t a ‘yes’ man and I like that in people.

‘Both Jimmy and I have a lot of knowledge between us and want to take this club into the Championship. But, it won’t be easy.’

Since getting the push with Rovers, Moore says he has been keeping himself busy, watching games and has also done a little scouting for Preston. ‘I watched a lot of Reserve football,’ the fifty-six year old said. ‘I wanted to be well up on what’s available if I got somewhere and needed to bring in players on loan. So, I’ve got the knowledge and data to call on the younger element who are coming through.’
