Rotherham United Chairman, Tony Stewart and his directors had more meetings yesterday regarding whittling the shortlist of contractors/architects, who are to work on the new stadium, down to two from four

At the beginning of the year, Mr Stewart said that the designs that had already been submitted were ‘exciting` and that they were hoping to get the major construction work on the stadium underway in May and anticipated a build time of eleven months.

The four companies were originally given a brief which included for a dome like design with a minimum of twelve thousand seats and, it is understood, that they have also now asked for the stadium to be a ‘football cauldron` to try and ensure that the ground will have a real atmosphere.

The Star also understands that they have also looked at the idea of steeper sides and lower roofing.
