Rotherham United Manager, Ronnie Moore says that former Miller, Guy Branston is a ‘character’.

Speaking about the Torquay defender, who has played for ten clubs since leaving the Millers six years ago, Moore said, ‘It`s always nice to see Guy. He`s a fantastic character and he was fantastic for this club and he`s doing really well for Torquay. He had his bad points where he`s given away one or two penalties and been sent off but that`s the way he is and you need characters like that.

‘I`ve told our centre forwards that they have to be brave because it they go up against Guy Branston and show any fear then we certainly won`t be scoring many goals. We`ve got to go there and get at him, we`ve got to wind him up and talk to him and, you do that and sometimes he loses his head and he can give away a penalty or he can go straight through you.

‘But, on his day, he`s everything you want from a centre-back. And we`ve got a player like that in Ryan Cresswell, but the problem is in keeping him on the park. On the field both Guy and Cress are alike, they are domineering centre-halves who can score and they can do well for you in both boxes and put you on the attack from headers. I do think Cresswell is the better player.`

Guy began his career with Leicester City and was loaned out to five different clubs, including Rotherham, while he was there, before finally singing for the Millers in 1999. While with Rotherham he had loan spells with Wycombe and Peterborough before signing for Sheffield Wednesday. Since then he has played for Peterborough, Oldham, Rochdale, Northampton, Notts County, Kettering Town, Burton before joining Torquay, initially on loan this year.
