Rotherham United Manager, Ronnie Moore ran his eye over Gary Roberts yesterday at Don Valley in the Reserve win over Huddersfield.

Roberts, who was released recently by Yeovil, is a defensive midfielder and could be just what the doctor ordered. The twenty-two year old began his career with Crewe and in August last year joined Yeovil, initially on loan, but got a permanent deal in October. In August this year, Roberts was suspended by the Glovers for a breach of club discipline and subsequently left by mutual consent.

Roberts played for England at U17, U18 and U19 level scoring the winning goal when England U19`s beat Northern Ireland U19`s in a UEFA Championship qualifier game.

It seems the lad was let go by both Crewe and Yeovil due to a drink problem and speaking to The Guardian`s Sports Blog he said he was looking forward to sorting his life out.

Whether he impressed enough for that to be with Rotherham United, we shall have to wait and see.
