Rotherham United Chairman Tony Stewart says that Alan Stubbs is one of three ‘favourites’ he has on his list to be the new Manager.

Speaking to STV Mr Stewart said, ‘Alan Stubbs is one of our three favourites for the job but we will do things the right way. We must first ask Hibs for permission before we speak to Alan directly.’

Stubbs, who is currently Head Coach of Hibernian led them to their first Scottish Cup in over a century and has recently given the impression that he will be staying at Easter Road when he said, ‘I’m planning for next season. We’re not going to rest on our laurels. There’s a lot of ambitious people behind the scenes here.’

He met with Hibernian Chief Executive Leeann Dempster at Easter Road yesterday to review their campaign and discuss plans for next season.

Mr Stewart also told STV, ‘Since being promoted to the Championship we have twice narrowly avoided relegation but we have learned very little from the experience. We want a manager who can help the club grow and take us up the league.’
