Rotherham United Chairman Tony Stewart has hinted that the Millers could smash their transfer record for the second time during the season.

After breaking the bank, though no figure has been disclosed, for Aston Villa’s Jordan Bowery twelve days ago, Mr Stewart told The Star that there was already bids in for more players.

‘Rotherham could be breaking their transfer record again if one of the bids already made is accepted,’ the Millers Chairman said adding that they’ve had to act quickly. ‘We were twenty days later than the rest of the clubs because of the play-offs. Steve (Evans) likes to prepare early and he prepares well. There was a lot of preparation going on even before the play-offs and that has gone well.’

So who are these players? Well we are told that the Gaffer is interested in Millwall’s Mark Beevers and Johann Berg Guomundsson from Dutch club AZ Alkmaar while he must surely have an interest in last season’s loanee James Tavernier.
