Rotherham United have told the Football Association that they intend to appeal the red card defender Richard Wood got on Saturday at Hillsborough.

As it stands Wood will not be available for the game against Wigan Athletic on Boxing day.

The thirty-one year old was given a red card after Lucas Joao went down in the area and Referee Tim Robinson pointed to the spot.

Many of us in the stands believed Woody had been first yellow carded for the supposed foul then shown another card for protesting his innocence but Millers interim Manager Paul Warne said after the game on Saturday that the centre-half told him he’d got a red for the foul.

Let’s hope the FA look at the incident and agree with the Millers that, at most, it was a yellow.
