Rotherham United Manager Neil Warnock thought today`s red card was a ‘bit harsh`.

Matt Derbyshire and Gaetano Berardi went up in the air for the ball and Berardi fell to the floor holding his head. Referee Kevin Friend, who was nearer us at the other side of the pitch than the incident, immediately saw blood on Berardi and showed Derbyshire a straight red card.

‘The lad went up with his arm but he doesn`t deliberately elbow him, he`s not that kind of player. Even Ian Dowie said that to me,` the Gaffer told Radio Sheffield after today`s win.

‘We will appeal and see what happens.

‘It is disappointing and I don`t think the referee was going to send him off until he saw the blood. Then they were all round him like a rash so that sort of made his mind up.

‘But we coped with it and never let our heads go.`
