RUFC – Millers Talking To Former Striker?

Rotherham United have held talks with representatives of former Miller Chris O’Grady says Andy Giddings of Radio Sheffield

The striker, now thirty-one years old, joined the Millers in January 2007 going on to make over fifty appearances.

Originally signing a two-and-a-half year deal, Chris left in May 2008 under a ‘bit of a cloud’ when it became known that he was the only member of staff who refused to defer wages when Rotherham went into administration. Many Millers fans immediately condemned the striker although later a lot realised that it’s not easy bringing up a family with no money coming in – saying that everyone else did it.

From Millmoor Chris went to Oldham, didn’t really settle and had a few loan signings before signing a two-and-a-half year deal at Rochdale in January 2010.

He then went on to spend two years at Hillsborough, then went to Barnsley who he left when they were relegated from the Championship to join Brighton in the summer of 2014. Chris had loan spells with Sheffield United and Nottingham Forest before spending last season with Burton Albion where he made twenty-six appearances, his only goal coming in December against Rotherham.

If this move happens how would you, as a Rotherham fan, feel? He doesn’t fit the criteria Manager Paul Warne tells us he wants and he only got the one goal last season.
