Rotherham United fans are used to not being given penalties this year – and it would hardly be the same interview on a Saturday tea-time if Millers Manager Steve Evans wasn`t berating the referee for not giving a penalty for his side but this afternoon I have seen the most blatant penalty not given when the referee was stood less than a yard from the incident.

It was so obvious a penalty we were all up and standing waiting for Kieran Agard to pick himself up and put the ball on the spot, only to have to sit down again when the referee wasn`t interested that our striker had been practically sat on in the penalty area.

Speaking after the game the Gaffer told Radio Sheffield, ‘I’ve just heard a local media guy say in forty-six years he`s seen a lot of penalties not given and that, today, wasn`t given and what a shocking decision that was.`

The Millers also had a claim for a penalty turned down in the first half when Wes Thomas was pushed in the back with Steve saying, ‘When you`re two-nil up and Wes Thomas gets blatantly hauled down it`s the duty of the referee to give a penalty.`

What is it with referees and us and penalties? Why can’t they just be fair with us?

Yes, Preston got a pen and I was too far away to see if it was or not so have to give them the benefit of the doubt.

I really do hope that the TV tonight shows these incidents – though I doubt they will.
