Rotherham United are going to build a new football stadium in Rotherham – somewhere. With it being thought it was going to be at Parkgate, Chairman, Tony Stewart gave the impression the other day that, although Parkgate is the preferred site, the club were also looking elsewhere.

Manager, Mark Robins, has told The Star that any new stadium must include the right facilities for Youth development.

Robins is a big believer in the development of Youth football and was Youth Coach at the club, though that must seem like many moons ago!

‘We have our Centre of Excellence and we must make sure that the facilities are right and proper and give us scope for expansion to become an Acadamey, if and when the club becomes more successful. We need to give young players hope and the prospect to look into the future with this club. The new ground will start to see a move forward in terms of facilities for everyone.

‘We need to identify a site and decide what we want on it. It has to be done the right way with everything in place to take the club forward. We’ll get one shot at it and it has to be right.’
