Rotherham United Manager Neil Redfearn was pleased with the way his team battled this evening to get a point against Reading.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield after the one-all draw, the Millers Boss said, ‘I was pleased with the performance against a side I think are probably the best in this Division.

‘I thought we were hanging on a bit in the first half but we showed that determination to get to half-time and I thought we really took them to task in the second half. We deservedly got the goal and I thought we maybe could have gone on and pinched it. But probably a draw was a fair result but they will go places and win so I`ve got to be pleased.

‘We had chances and there was a bit of belief there in that second half and we livened up.`

Asked about getting his first point with the Millers, Neil said, ‘It`s vital. We need points to get away from the bottom because we don`t want to be down there. It`s part of a process. This club stayed up by the skin of its teeth last season and it`s down there this season and we want to change things round.

‘The performance was there tonight and I saw tonight a real reaction against a top side to get us a point.

‘I want to do well for the Chairman who I think I`m lucky to have, it makes a nice change. He loves his football and he`s took this club back to where it should be but we want to take it to the next level now and we`re at the beginning of that process`

Going on to talk about the supporters he said, ‘The supporters were great and there was a real reaction in the second half. But we`ve got to give it to them and make sure we turn up and give them something to cheer which, I thought, the second half we did.`
