Rotherham United Manager Steve Evans says that for the first time in a long time he may have some players sat in the stands this weekend.

The Millers Boss has always says he wants a small squad so that he hasn’t got players being bored sitting watching the game from the stands but with all the new faces he’s fetching in, and still hoping to get in before the transfer window closes at the end of the month, he might not be able to keep everyone happy.

Kari Arnason missed out in the win over Shrewsbury last weekend with a sickness virus but has trained this week and although has lost weight will be in the squad to face Crawley Town.

‘We’ll look at all the data the medical team have on his including his energy levels and heart-rate and we’ll determine if he gets a start or is on the bench,’ the Millers Boss said. ‘But if Kari Arnason is one hundred per cent when we pick the team then we’ve always maintained that he will play.’

Asked about trying to secure James Tavernier and Haris Vuckic on a longer loan deal, Steve said, ‘We haven’t been able to speak to anyone about it because Newcastle have been away in Dubai. As far as I understand it only one man makes the decisions about the playing staff at Newcastle and that’s Alan Pardew although I’ve had a chat with his assistant Steve Stone and we are going to speak again. Both players have clearly said that if they get the opportunity to stay until the end of the season they would like to stay. We would love them to stay and we are hoping that Alan will say ‘yes’.’
