Rotherham United made it difficult for Wolverhampton Wanderers, according to Wolves manager, Mick McCarthy after the penalty defeat at Don Valley last night.

After holding the Championship side to a 0-0 draw the Millers won the Carling Cup game on penalties and McCarthy said, ‘Rotherham played well – they got men behind the ball and played better than us.’

He told the Birmingham Mail.net, ‘I don’t think our better players did very well last night but I think we should give Rotherham credit for the way they played and stopped us playing. After ninety minutes, I don’t think either team deserved to win but you’d have thought the Championship side would have the edge in extra time and taken better penalties.

‘But, we’ll bounce back. Rotherham played well and I congratulate them.’
