Rotherham United have got Joe Widdowson on loan from West Ham and he says he is looking forward to playing a few games for the Millers.

The nineteen year old may have come to Millmoor at the right time with Stephen Brogan out with a broken leg and Paul Hurst going out on loan to Burton he could well be in manager, Mark Robins’ plans in the very near future.

Robins says, ‘He is a player who isn’t frightened of a battle. I didn’t put him in the squad for last weeks Wycombe game because he was really nervous when he came to us and I didn’t feel like I could just throw him in. He’s a good player and he will settle.’

Widdowson, speaking to The Advertiser, said, ‘ I haven’t been here long but the players have looked good in training. It looks like a good squad and a good club and I’m working hard to get into the team.

‘I came through the Youth system at West Ham and got a good schooling with people like Tony Carr and more recently Kevin Keen. I’m quite strong defensively and I like to go forward. I’m also a decent tackler.’
