Rotherham United midfielder, Nicky Law was happy with his contribution to the win over Macclesfield on Saturday.

Speaking to Gerry Somerton of RotherFM, the twenty-one year old said, ‘This was always going to be a tough game for us after the extra time on Wednesday night but we’ve ground it out and got the three points.

‘It would have been an easier game for us if we could have held on to the two-nil lead until half-time. With that goal going in the Manager had some choice words to say to us at half-time. It was a sloppy goal and that’s something we need to work at because we are letting sloppy goals in.’

Gerry Somerton spoke to Nicky about the second goal, saying it was another dead ball by Nicky Law. Nicky replied, ‘Yes, that’s about five now I think. I’ll just put the ball into the box and we know if we attack the ball right then we’ll get goals.
The manager is always drilling into us every day at training that he wants us to pass the ball and get the ball into the box. If Popey and Alfie get the service then they are going to score goals.

‘They put us under a lot of pressure in the second half with a lot of long balls into the box but the lads at the back stood up to it well. Our third goal killed them off and it was a great finish from Dan (Harrison). Hopefully, in the next couple of weeks, I’ll get a goal – I’ve come close a few times.’

Going on to speak about tonight’s game against Huddersfield Town in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy, Nicky said, ‘The cup draws have been tough to us so far what with Derby, West Brom and now Huddersfield. Huddersfield are flying at the moment but it’s another game where we will be the underdogs and will be looking to take a scalp.’
