Rotherham Vital’s latest poll question was:

What do you think of the loaning of players at the start of the season?

With the results being:

It allows us players we couldn’t otherwise afford (35%)

Shouldn’t be allowed until at least October (26%)

A necessary evil (17%)

I’m all for it (11%)

I have no thoughts on the subject (11%)

There should be no loaning at all (0%)

ost people voted for the loaning of players because it allows us to get in players we couldn’t perhaps afford.

This certainly helped us when we were in financial difficulties especially when Sheffield United kindly loaned us two players AND paid their wages. My personal view is that loans shouldn’t take place until at least two months into the season, although I know there would be some exceptional circumstances, mostly, I would imagine, in the lower leagues.

I have seen recently where teams such as Arsenal are trying to get players on year loans. Surely, a team as big as this one should have enough squad players to see them through a few injuries/suspensions?

Anyone else got any thoughts?
