A few facts and figures of previous games between the Millers and Posh

Rotherham United travel to London Road to take on Peterborough United for what will be the thirty-first league meeting between the pair.

March 2014 was the last time the Millers visited London Road when both sides were in League One. The game was Steve Evans’ one hundredth game in charge of Rotherham and it ended in a one-nil win when Kieran Agard was bundled over by Nugent in the area and scored from the resulting spot-kick on the stroke of half-time.

January 2008 was the time before the pair met in Peterborough. The home side went in at half-time with a one-nil lead thanks to a Charlie Lee goal although a shot from Mark Hudson a couple of minutes later skimmed the bar and went out to safety. The second half saw Ryan Taylor and Hudson denied by Posh defenders with Andy Warrington making a great save from Craig Mackail-Smith to keep the Millers in it. At the other end home ‘keeper Lewis made a finger-tip save from Jamie Yates but in the final ten minutes of the game Aaron McLean made it two-nil to Peterborough. On the ninetieth minute Ryan Taylor scored for the visitors but in six minutes of time added on Mackail-Smith made it three-one.

The Millers also won at London Road on Boxing Day 1999 which, due to the Millers squad suffering from a flu bug then manager Ronnie Moore tried to get the game postponed – though I’m sure at the final whistle he was glad it hadn’t been! Danny Hudson opened the scoring in the second minute of the game with Paul Warne making it two on thirty-four minutes. Four minutes into the second half Warney scored again to make it three-nil with Steve Thompson and Leo Fortune-West making it five-nil.

The Millers have been to London Road in the Carling Cup in August 2010 which saw the Millers go ahead on nine minutes with a Marcus Marshall goal. But goals from Ryan Bennett, George Boyd, Aaron McLean and Mackail-Smith gave the Posh a next round tie at home to Cardiff.
