Ahead of Saturday’s game at Sincil Bank, Lincoln, here’s a look at the history of this fixture.

Rotherham United travel to Sincil Bank, the home of Lincoln City, for a League 2 game against one of the Millers oldest rivals.
The 2 sides have met on 94 previous occasions in League and Cup since 1920, and the old Rotherham Town side faced City 6 times even further back during the 1890’s.

Rotherham’s Football League record at Lincoln is outstanding with 14 wins and 10 draws from 41 games.
The recent League and Cup record stands at 5 wins from the last 6 games, and only 1 defeat in the last 9 dating back to 1979.

Last time out at Sincil Bank saw Millers striker Derek Holmes net a excellent hat-trick in a 3-1 win on January 12th 2008.
Holmes’ goals came after 24, 57 and 84 minutes to claim him the matchball, with a consolation goal for City from Jamie Forrester on 55 minutes.
This was to be Derek’s last goal action for Rotherham, as he failed to score in any of his last 18 appearences and he was transferred to St Johnstone during the summer.

My pick of the games v Lincoln was a 2-0 victory for the Millers back on Saturday August 24th 1991.
After a winning start to the season the previous Saturday at home to Burnley, the Millers took on Lincoln on a red-hot afternoon at Sincil Bank for the first away fixture of the season in Division 4 following relegation the previous season.
Manager Phil Henson was in charge of his first full season, after taking over from Billy McEwan halfway through the previous term.
A goalless first half was followed by 2 strikes from Tony Cunningham, his second since his transfer from Bolton during the summer and Ronnie Robinson, which gave the Millers all 3 points in front of 4,134 fans.
Henson had this to say after the game, ” I asked for a professional performance and that is what the team gave.
It was a good, solid display all round and we could have had a much bigger win for the chances were there.
Certainly no one would doubt we were worth the points and there were many encouraging aspects”.
Rotherham were promoted at the end of the season, finishing runners-up to Burnley, while Lincoln ended the season in 10th.
