Stats and words about our next opponents, Hereford
Rotherham United welcome Hereford for their first visit to Don Valley on Saturday.
The Millers and the Bulls haven’t met too often in the past, the last time being at Millmoor in February 2008. Gary Hooper got the winner for the visitors that day with the only goal of the game five minutes before the end of the first half. The fixture at Edgar Street in August ended in a stalemate with neither team getting on the scoresheet.
The name of Hereford United shot to fame in 1972 when they were a non-league Southern side and knocked out big boys Newcastle United. They were also elected to the Football League that season, reaching the old second division by 1976. They spent nineteen seasons in the old fourth division and, as well as having serious financial worries, were relegated at the end of the 1996/7 season. They returned to the league after winning the Conference Play Off Final in 2006.
