A few facts and figures of previous games between the Millers and the Spireites . . . .
Rotherham United welcome Chesterfield to the next game in Northern Group F of the Checkatrade Trophy.
The Millers and Spireites have met in this competition before both times at Millmoor.
The first time was in January 2000 when own goals from Guy Branston and Brian Wilsterman gave the visitors a two-nil lead at half-time. Steve Wilkinson made it three-nil on fifty-eight minutes with a goal from Jason White, just after the hour mark, making it three-one. David Reeves scored another with four minutes to go to give Chesterfield a four-one win.
The following season saw the Spireites at Millmoor again. Former Miller Ian Breckin, Mark Jones and an own goal from Paul Hurst sent Chesterfield in at half-time with a three-nil lead. But the Millers must have had a rollicking at half-time because within minutes of the re-start Mark Robins made it three-one. Alan Lee made it three-two on fifty-seven minutes and a late goal from Andy Monkhouse sent the time to extra-time. Ryan Williams won the game for Chesterfield with a goal on the one hundred and fourth minute.
