A few facts and figures about previous games between the Millers and the Shots
Rotherham United entertain Aldershot on Saturday at Don Valley for the thirteenth time in their league history – and let’s hope it’s not an unlucky thirteenth!
The last time the sides met at Don Valley was in December last year when an Adam Le Fondre goal, five minutes before half-time, was enough to give the Millers all three points. The Millers had skipper Ryan Cresswell stretchered off on sixty-six minutes while the Shots had Jamie Vincent sent-off for a second yellow card after upending Marcus Marshall.
The season previous to that saw the teams meet four times – twice in the league and then in the play-off semi-finals which saw the Millers get to Wembley. The league game at Don Valley ended in a nil-nil draw while the second leg of the play-off semi-finals saw Adam Le Fondre and Kevin Ellison give the Millers the win. The Millers had already won at the Recreation Ground with a Le Fondre goal in the last two minutes of the game.
The last time the Shots won at Don Valley was in March 2009. The visitors went two up in the first forty minutes, both goals being scored by John Grant with Jamie Clarke getting a consolation for the Millers ten minutes from time.
