Rotherham United’s ‘new’ First Team Coach Matt Hamshaw says that while Paul Warne is at the helm everything’s in ‘safe hands.’

Speaking to Joe Cawthorn of the Rotherham Advertiser Matt said, ‘I watched Rotherham United from being a kid and always wanted to come here as a player so what I’m doing now is amazing.

‘When I went home after the QPR win and saw all my family smiling it was unbelievable, it was like we’d won the Champions League – but that’s what it means to us all.

‘Warney’s personality is almost reciprocal of the club itself. He’s very upbeat and positive and he’s an iconic figurehead at the club. He’s such a great character that the fans and players respect him. He works the way he played, he leaves nothing on the table and that’s the biggest compliment I can pay him.

‘It’s a great working environment and from Andy Willert the kit man right through to Warney we are all treated the same.

‘Everyone’s on Warney’s side and I can’t speak highly enough of him. I knew him before as a friend but having seen him in this environment, in my opinion, he’s more than capable of doing it.’
