Rotherham United Manager Steve Evans was asked yesterday evening if he was still on the look out for new players.

With last season’s top goalscorer being sold to Bristol City, the Gaffer said, ‘We aren’t just looking at strikers.

‘We’ve got a good squad with good players but we need real competition all over the pitch and the Chairman knows I won’t ask for a player unless it’s important to me.’

Admitting that he showed interest in Preston North End’s Joe Garner, Steve said, ‘They wanted two and a half million for him and we aren’t that type of club. We like Joe Garner but Preston have done some good business and got him to sign an extended contract.’

Perhaps this is just me but if Joe Garner, a League One player, is worth £2.5m (and I’m not saying he isn’t) how is it we only sold Kieran Agard, now a Championship player, for what is reported as around £1m?
