Rotherham United`s stand-in captain Lee Frecklington says that to do well you have to play ‘ugly`.

The twenty-eight year old midfielder played his skippers role on Saturday getting the winning goal, probably against the run of play, in the dying minutes of the game against Stevenage helping the Millers to their sixth consecutive game without a loss.

Speaking to the Yorkshire Post after the two-one win, Frecks said, ‘The teams who do well are the teams who play ugly and win which is something we`ve not been able to do this season. We’ve had a lot of disappointing results here (the New York Stadium) and have played better but haven`t won.

‘I don`t think our tempo was as good as it has been but Stevenage played very well and made it difficult for us but we managed to scrape the three points.`

Looking into the future the former Peterborough player carried on, ‘This squad is probably one of the best I’ve ever played in and, if we did get to the Championship, there`s no reason we shouldn’t stop there.

‘But we`re not stupid. We know how difficult this league is and I know it`s a cliché but we have to take each game as it comes.

‘All we can do now is prepare for Carlisle and get another three points. Then another after that and see where we finish at the end of the season. At the moment we are exactly where we want to be. We’ve put ourselves in a good position and we just have to keep it going and hopefully finish the season strong, like we did last year.`
