Rotherham United have parted company with skipper Lee Frecklington.

The thirty-two year old joined the Millers from Peterborough originally on a three month loan but impressed enough to get a full time contract out of then Manager Steve Evans.

Frecks was with the Millers through back-to-back promotions from League Two to the Championship and was eventually given the captains armband in September 2015, which went down well with the fans but a few niggly injuries have seen the midfielder in and out of the starting eleven in the past couple of seasons.

Lee came through the Youth ranks with his home club Lincoln going on to play around one hundred and thirty first team games with the Imps. In 2009 he had a loan spell with Peterborough eventually signing for them after the loan ended.

Frecks’ first Rotherham goal came on his debut in October 2012 in our three-nil win away at Aldershot and went on to make another thirty-five appearances that season scoring a further eight times.

The following season he waded in with thirteen goals in forty-nine games with the following season in the Championship he played thirty-one times scoring just twice (and also getting his first red card in a Rotherham shirt away at Huddersfield). His second season in the Championship saw him score five times in twenty-nine appearances with the following season, being ravaged by injury, saw him make play just twenty-two times with his only goal coming in the final game of the season in a one-all draw away at Derby.

This season saw Frecks score his first ever hat-trick which was in September in our five-one home win against Walsall. His only other goal this season came in our three-nil win away at Bury.

All at Vital Rotherham thank Frecks for what he has done for the Millers in his time here and wish him well in his future.

Makes you wonder what’s happened in last couple of weeks after he said he wanted to finish his career with Rotherham

i’m really disappointed Frecks has left would have loved him to finish his career with us and the move on to the coaching staff. but not to be. this transfer window so far is a big let down and at the moment it is leaving us a lot weaker. I really hope Mr Warne as got some top class replacements lined up and not just living in hope.
Anyone know how much if anything we got for Frecks because it will take a lot of money to get someone in with the same skill and workrate as the most influential player of the last few years.
