Former Rotherham United skipper Johnny Mullins says that the best moment in his career – so far – was his first promotion as a Miller.

Johnny joined Rotherham on a free transfer from Stockport County in the summer of 2010 making over one hundred appearances and this week has joined Cheltenham Town after being released by Luton Town.

Giving an interview to GloucestershireLive the thirty-two year old defender said that that promotion would take some beating.

‘We beat Aldershot two-nil at home and I scored the first goal. As a one off day I don’t think that can be topped.’

That season – 2012/13 – saw the Millers promoted from League Two to League One at the New York Stadium with Johnny, who was given the captains armband earlier in the season, chipping in with four goals. That was also the season he had a loan spell at Oxford, the team he joined after leaving Rotherham.

Johnny had a good relationship with the Rotherham fans and many were sad to see him leave. Now we all wish him well with his future at Whaddon Road.
