It is with sadness that we hear of the death of former Rotherham United Manager Jim McAnearney.

Jim had been a trainer with the Millers before taking over as Manager in 1968 after Tommy Docherty left, and was in charge for around two hundred and fifty games.

As a player Jim was an inside forward and played for Sheffield Wednesday, Plymouth Argyle, Watford and Bradford where he also was joint Manager with Tom Hallett.

After leaving Millmoor in 1973 Dundee born Jim also had management spells with Frickley, Scarborough and Hallam.

All at Vital Rotherham send our condolences to Jim McAnearney’s family and friends.
