Rotherham United are expecting the game at Don Valley on New Years Day against high fliers Port Vale to go ahead.

With having so many games postponed recently, due to the weather, the recent thaw has come as a relief to the club.

Speaking to David Beddows of The Advertiser, Chief Operating Officer, Paul Douglas said, ‘The forecast is good and if there are no surprises we will definitely be playing at the weekend and we are hopeful that the people who have been waiting for a game over Christmas will now have one to watch.

‘There was no chance of last Tuesday`s game going ahead because the pitch was totally frozen.

‘Port Vale are a top side so it`s a good game to come back to.`
