Rotherham United faced one former player on Saturday in Ian Sharps of Shrewsbury and have another one in Nick Fenton to try and overcome this evening at Morecambe.

Nick played over one hundred and thirty games in a Rotherham shirt in the three years he was with the Millers and he will have a point to prove to United Manager, Andy Scott this evening.

Scott told Les Payne of The Star that he looked at everyone in the squad at the end of last season and the thirty-one year old defender was one of those he decided not to offer another contract too.

Speaking to The Advertiser, Nick, who began his career with Manchester City, said, ‘I didn`t want to leave Rotherham and it was a surprise when I was let go. I had a great time there and had a good rapport with the fans.

‘I felt I always gave one hundred per cent but a new manager came in and he wanted to change things which is his prerogative.

‘I still keep in touch with the boys and I look for Rotherham`s results every week. I`d like to see them do well, apart from tonight.`

I think most of the fans were a bit surprised when Nick was one of the players Andy Scott didn`t seem to rate and I`m beginning to wonder, with the problems we`re having in defence, if he isn`t wondering the same thing.
