Rotherham United lost their first game yesterday afternoon to Barnet and their manager, Paul Fairclough said it was an exciting afternoon.

Speaking to the BBC, Fairclough said, ‘Today’s game encapsulates everything good about football. It’s just the sort of thing football supporters want to see on a Saturday afternoon.

‘There were some big performances out there and Lee Harrison has been a hero for us today. But look at Cliff Akurang who took on their defence single-handedly not once but twice and then scored some wonderful goals. If you’d seen those goals on Match of the Day you’d be talking about them all season.

‘And it was heart attack stuff towards the end with Rotherham hitting the post, hitting the crossbar, having shots and scoring some good goals themselves. It was just an exciting afternoon.’
