Rotherham United’s ex manager, Danny Bergara, has died this morning, reports the BBC.

Mr Bergara, who was the Millers manager in 1996, had been ill recently and died peacefully at a nursing home.

Uruguayan born, it is believed he was the first foreign manager to take over an English League club. He was manager at Rochdale, Doncaster and Stockport where he had his most successful spell.

Bergara played for Mallorca and Sevilla and won a handful of caps at U 21 level for Uruguay.

He had recently been involved with scouting for Sunderland.

All at Rotherham Vital send our deepest sympathy to Danny’s family.

RIP
