Rotherham United Manager Steve Evans said that there were some knocking his team selection before the game today.

Skipper Craig Morgan had to be replaced as is serving a suspension for getting ten bookings so back in came Farrend Rawson while Jordan Bowery started up front alongside Matt Derbyshire with there being no room for Conor Sammon in the squad. Paul Green replaced Lee Frecklington, who dropped to the bench, in midfield with there being no place for Lawrie Wilson.

‘There were almost one or two other changes today, ‘the Millers Boss told Radio Sheffield after the one-nil win over Brighton, ‘but one or two who usually produce in big games for us got the nod and they produced.

‘When I told the Chairman what I was doing this morning there was some excitement because I was bringing in a young centre-half whose been nothing short of outstanding and leaving one or two out.

‘It was a close call today whether I played Ben Pringle or Adam Hammill because Hammill has been scintillating in training in the last two days and I went to bed last night with him in the team. But I changed it and that young man Ben Pringle has done a job today and in the second half he had to have a real professional approach to his game.

‘There`s Lawrie Wilson who did nothing wrong at Huddersfield but we left him out for Craig Morgan and he understood that. And I’ve no doubt that he`ll play in the Premier League.

‘Jack Hunt is a Premiership full-back playing in the Championship. After the initial part of his loan he had options to bin us and go somewhere else but he said he wanted to stay to play for the Manager, staff and supporters and I think he`s done that.

‘And there`s Kirk Broadfoot who`s had bad press but in the last few weeks he`s been a top performer. He`s won lots of headers in both boxes today and lots of tackles and he`s given everything for the cause.

‘Every player in there is very tired but that`s the way they should be.

‘But there`s always going to be knockers. There were nine and a half thousand managers here today and you can`t please them all. But I`ll say this to every Millers fan out there that win games or lose games they have to try to beat us.`

Got to admit I raised an eyebrow when I saw who the Gaffer had left out – although I hadn’t realised Morgan was on ten yellows, so couldn’t play. The one player I’d like to be given an hour or so is Adam Hammill – in my eyes he’s an exciting player and could tie the opposition in knots. And the Boss is right, Broadfoot is suddenly a very wise player, can’t fault him.

Start the same eleven against Middlesbrough? Well, we’ll have to wait and see!
