Rotherham United Manager Steve Evans said there wasn’t a player out there who doesn’t deserve to be mentioned in dispatches after the win over Northampton Town at the New York Stadium.
Speaking to MillersPlayer after the three-one win, the Millers Boss said, ‘I think Jordan Slew deservedly got Man of the Match.
‘He never stopped working, he never stopped running the channels and he was strong and his performance deserved a goal. It’s a shame that his strike two or three minutes into the second half was blocked by a Northampton defender.
‘Him and Kayode up front gave them a few problems. And I thought Daniel Nardiello was tremendous today on that left flank. We identified that Northampton push their wing players right up the pitch and leave that channel and Nards has a technique that he can hurt them there.
‘And today was about the Mullins and the Arnasons too. I thought Bradley was good today and Liam Ridehalgh is a wonder with his left foot and he’s got his confidence going.
‘I thought David Noble and Michael O’Connor ran the game between them and some of their passing was a pleasure to watch. Noble is going to be a big player for us and he’s one of only three or four players on that pitch who could have scored that goal when he goes into the box, wins the ball, dinks it over the goalie on a half-volley and into the net. It’s a fantastic goal.
‘But who can I not mention today?’
I actually think the back four did very well today – when one seemed to be in trouble there was another there to help out, and I don’t think we’ve seen that much this season. And I can’t agree more with the Gaffer about O’Connor and Noble who played together with an understanding of a pairing who’d been playing together for months.
And Noble’s goal started from Odejayi back in his own box helping out the defence – now, that’s what I call team play.
