Rotherham United Manager Steve Evans read the Millers the riot act during half-time and whatever he said, it worked.

Going in two-down at half-time the Millers Boss told Radio Sheffield, ‘We looked disjointed and lacked energy and I had to bring a few people alive at half-time and tell them what it meant to people who follow us around the country.

‘And they gave me a response and, let`s be honest, we tore them apart in the second half. We got the early goal and we laid siege for a while and had a bit more patience in the final third

We shouldn’t lose here today and we know that but we go away with nothing.`

Speaking about the first half, the Gaffer said, ‘We didn’t have players playing to the system. We had two central midfield players who don`t match a runner for the first goal and a central-midfield player commits a silly foul for a free-kick for the second half.

‘At League One we`d have probably turned it round and won four-two but at this level you get punished.

‘Birmingham have got some very talented boys here and Gary (Rowett) has turned them round.

‘I go away feeling hard done to today but we need to re-group and get ready for Brighton on Monday.`
